What is now widely recognized as the Lagos Summer Fest began humbly and full of passion, under the name Lagos Sunset Color Party. In 2017, the youth association “A Garra”, with its vision and love for music and culture, took the initial steps to create an event that would transform the festive scene of Lagos.

On its debut, the party hosted around 1,000 music and color enthusiasts at Campinhos (Lagos), establishing an intimate and vibrant space that marked the beginning of a tradition.

The years 2018 and 2019 not only saw the party’s transition to the emblematic Meia Praia but also the explosion of recognition and impact in the city.

It was during this period that we had the privilege of hosting big names from Portuguese electronic music, such as Karetus and Putzgrilla, who raised the entertainment bar and drew more eyes to the event. The celebration expanded beyond just a Youth Day, solidifying itself as a Lagos tradition. The increased prominence of the event has allowed for the entry of new sponsors who contributed to its sustained growth, making it a hallmark of the Algarve summer.

After a forced break due to the pandemic, 2022 witnessed the evolution of the Sunset Color Party into a two-day festival, reborn as the Lagos Summer Fest. With deep respect for its roots, one day of the festival was entirely dedicated to the Sunset Color Party, while the other day ventured into exploring new horizons. With its new home at Cais da Solaria, on Praia da Batata, the festival broadened its offerings, not only in terms of music but also in street food and local entertainment, becoming a free-entry event accessible to all.

In 2024, Lagos Summer Fest proudly celebrates its 6th edition, returning to its roots on the iconic Meia Praia beach, next to the pier. This year, it will be a day of celebration with the well-known festival of colours, standing out as an unmissable event in Lagos. With key support and partnerships, we are excited to return to the place where we were once so happy, ready to deliver a unique experience that celebrates music, culture and our wonderful community.
